Drawings
Sharing electronically prepared drawings among different users is more complex than with specification Sections. We can now view drawings up to and including AutoCAD 2000i.
When sending drawing files, please follow these guidelines:
- Send files formatted either as AutoCAD .dwg or generic .dxf file types, Version 2000i or earlier.
- Do not send plot files, as they will not have been prepared using the correct plotter settings compatible with our plotting facility's equipment.
- Include plotting instructions pertaining to pen sizes and plotting scale.
- If sending files that have been prepared using non-standard AutoCAD fonts, please include copies of the fonts with the drawing files so that we will be able to access that information.
- We have been instructed by our plotting facility that including True Type® fonts in a drawing is problematic, and will cause problems during the plotting process.
- If the drawing has been prepared using the AutoCAD XREF (external reference) feature, please ensure that the referenced files are also included; otherwise this information cannot be accessed or displayed. An alternative to sending the referenced files is to bind the referenced files to the drawing prior to sending the drawings; this will ensure that all of the information is accessible upon receipt.

Email Guidelines
The following guidelines should be followed prior to sending the information electronically:
- Use a file compression utility to compress the information, thus speeding up the electronic transfer. It is best to use compression software that utilizes PKWare's PKUNZIP 2.04g protocol, such as the latest version of WinZIP.
- It is better to send a number of smaller files rather than a single large file. Our Internet Service Provider has told us that large file attachments sent as Email will have more problems navigating the internet, and could cause problems with the server at the time of download.
